Making sense of relationships

Many writers have a theme that they come back to time and again. You might be familiar, for example, with -
  • Graham Greene’s recurring theme of religious struggle.
  • Lloyd Jones’ relentless pursuit of identity.
  • Patrick Gale’s young men inching towards a sense of pride they are gay.
One of the themes I come back to in my writing is making sense of relationships – parent/child, partners, friends, or even work colleagues.
By ‘making sense of relationships’ I mean how to have healthy relationships, how to not be devoured by relationships and lose oneself, how to have freedom to grow and love oneself while also supporting and loving others.
All the readings I’m performing in November this year in several Wairarapa venues are segments that seek to - at the very least, expose (maybe even try and make sense of) - healthy and unhealthy connections between people. Visit this webpage for dates, times and venues:
